I am currently on the south island of New Zealand....it is amazingly beautiful here. We have been driving along the west coast and to our left is a view of the southern alps and to our right is a view of the breathtaking coastline. The south island is more remote than the north but thats what makes is special/beautiful. In a couple of hours I will be walking on a glacier, franz josef glacier! Enjoy the pictures!

at our first stop on the north island we went sailing for the day in Abel Tasman national park. It was good to relax for a day on the sailboat!

we stopped for lunch on a beach, i thought the colors of the water/sand were beautiful

we saw seals and penguins while we were sailing! here are two playful pups!

hoisting up the sail (I was 2nd mate) haha

a pit stop along the way to Franz Josef

another pit stop along the way
this place is called pancake rocks...if you look closely the rocks look like a bunch of short stacks all pilled on one another!
we just caught the sunset on the beach, my first in New Zealand....I guess my 4th grade gymnastic days came in handy for this picture!
we stayed last night in a pretty "hick" town, Berrytown, and had our own little party with the locals. I guess it is custom to dress up like your "granny" while drinking in the local bar. haha it was a good laugh! (me, sandra, mel & karen)

If you happen to go hang gliding in Canberra, Australia, be ware of Eagles! Just read a story about an hang glider getting attacked by two of them! Can't wait to see photos of your glacier experience.
